MONDAY MEMORY

After I graduated from MSUM in 2009, we took a family trip to Arizona to watch my cousin Olivia Em graduate from High School. We always joke about how we are so close as a family and that ten and twenty years from now, we'll still be taking family trips with all five of us. Here's an out-take from my first casino experience. My brother Clifton, cousin Dusty and her boyfriend Jeff were also in attendance. Clearly I've already had too much sun, as my sunburn will reveal and the only logical thing to do next is to eat the cactus.

Check out Dusty's Blog RAW INDIE
Her blog is an online extension of her printed zine that covers everything indie, edgy, creative and rock-tastic in music, design, art and life. With her self-proclaimed nerdy twist on it all, it's a great journalistic view from an insider on the AZ counterculture scene and lover of anything and anyone rawcore...

MONDAY MEMORY

While taking a short hike in Spearfish, SD this past October, I happened upon this carving... And I thought to myself, how cool! Later that night, Ben asked me to marry him... Very cool

MONDAY MEMORY

The times they are changing... and changing... and changing... So much change in a year, through beliefs, ideas, relationships and especially in one's self, makes it easy to appreciate the "familiar" when it surrounds you. Especially when it was so distant, so many times. After two years and three months together, three moves (or more, depending on who you ask) and many career choices later, it's good to finally feel the familiar surrounding me once again.

MONDAY MEMORY

Even though it was sunny that morning, the slightest memory I have left of this moment was that it was quite brisk outside. I have my favorite pink with white polka-dots bikini on, and of course a stylish hat usually saved for the occasional tea party. Lucky me, I had matching snow boots. This definitely would not have the impact it does, would it have not been for Dodie's carefully selected panoramic composition. If it were a close-up, you wouldn't have been able to appreciate the triumph of a mother persuading her daughter, that stepping out into the freezing frost of a white winter wonderland would be cute.

Mom, your spontaneous ideas are always appreciated. Thank you for this memory... I absolutely love it!
